Do you think you need LASIK or Cataract Surgery?
Berryhill Surgical Center offers a wide variety of surgical options to meet your vision wants and needs. The question is, what is best for you? Here are some questions you might be asking yourself if you are considering LASIK or Cataract Surgery.
1
What is LASIK?
Lasik eye surgey is one type of surgery used to correct the refractive errors which impair your ability to see without glasses or contact lenses. Your burry vision is caused by a shape of your cornea. The cornea is the front part of your eye that helps focus light to create an image on the retina. Usually, the shape of the cornea and the length of the eye are not perfect and the image on the retina is out of focus or distorted. These imperfections and the focusing power of the eye are called refractive errors. Glasses or contact lenses are designed to compensate for the eyes imperfections. In LASIK surgery, precise and controlled removal of corneal tissue by a special laser reshapes the cornea, changing its focusing power, allowing our patients to be less reliant on glasses or glasses free.

Is LASIK for you?
LASIK can be a great option for most people to help reduce or elimante the use of glasses or contact lenses. To see if you are a candidate for LASIK please call our office and book a free LASIK screening. During this screening, we will take measurements of the cornea and refractive measurements to determine the type of LASIK that patients will best benefit from.

What is Cataract Surgery?
Cataract surgery is performed in our office with oral sedation and topical anesthetic to numb the eye. General anesthesia is not required, allowing the patient to remain awake and comfortable during surgery. The surgery removes the natural lens of the eye that was once cloudy, then replaces the natural lens with an artificial clear lens. This procedure usually takes 10-20 minutes. The patient will follow up with our doctor the next day.
